Soft Cell

This performance piece explores the connections between mathematics and biology through dance and movement. Using mathematical modeling tools such as differential equations, one can explore how different biological ingredients act together to create cell movement. Here two dancers become one cell and their movement demonstrates how different cells may move in different scenerios. As dancers push, contract and respond to stimuli, a choreography emerges that reflects biological systems. This piece aims to show the movement that mathematical models may predict. Audience members are encouraged to become part of the performance, using our cellular costumes and joining in moving.
